Announcing the landmark achievement of ‘Quantum Supremacy’ to the world
For years cracking ‘Quantum computing’ has been the holy grail for the biggest brains on the planet. Well, Google just cracked it. This was hugely important for them for two reasons - it has the potential to change the entire way we compute and the fact that they have done this will help them attract the world’s best talent. Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet, wanted to announce this achievement with a film that would capture the enormity of what they had done, while also making this impenetrable subject accessible to everyday people.
It’s complicated. So rather than focus on the science, we decided to focus on the people behind it. Our idea was to tell the story like a heist film - this is the tale of the team that cracked the code. Heist films are something everyone can relate to. And through this vehicle we could explain the basics of the science in a way that was digestible.

After just 24 hours the film had 2 million views, trended #7 on YouTube, was 6th hottest video on Reddit, and picked up by publications including The Verge, Geek Wire, Design Boom and Towards Data Science.
